Students learn through a music education approach called Orff Schulwerk, which combines singing, movement, poetry, and playing instruments. Improvisation and composition are emphasized at all levels of instruction. Students often work in small cooperative groups to complete projects which extend and develop their understanding of the presented musical concept. In all classes, there is an emphasis on valuing each child’s contribution as we make music together as a community.
