Lower School students participate in activities
that promote fitness, body awareness, lifetime wellness,
and are introduced to skills necessary for participation
in team sports. Students develop locomotor patterns:
catching/throwing, catching/dodging, kicking/stopping,
passing, dribbling, striking and rhythms. Activities
and games include tumbling, aerobics, jump rope, dancing,
basketball, soccer, softball, lacrosse, hockey, Frisbee,
track and field, and football. Fitness assessment is
done twice a year for 3rd-5th grade.

Students develop a positive attitude
toward personal fitness, learn appropriate social/behavioral
management skills that include sportsmanship, leadership
and teamwork skills, and work toward applying rules and
strategies for successful play.
