The Lower School language program currently
includes instruction in Spanish language and culture.
All students, grades 1-5, have Spanish class each week.
Students in grades 1 and 2 participate in Spanish class
for thirty minutes while those in grades 3-5 have class
twice weekly with each session 45 minutes in length.

The goals of the LS language program are to introduce
and expose children to a language other than their own,
develop an “ear” for learning languages,
and begin the process of learning to read, write, and
speak in Spanish. Classes consist of language activities,
literature, songs, music, skits, and visual aspects such
as flashcards, cd/dvd, and videos. We believe that exposure
to many Spanish-speaking countries and cultures encourage
an appreciation for culture and a lifelong interest in
learning.
