Rowland Hall-St. Mark's School encourages parent participation in the classroom and in all areas of school life. We welcome your questions and suggestions, your ideas, and input. RHSM's parents are an incredible resource of volunteerism and expertise. Parents are invited to join us for Back to School Nights, evenings of fine art performances, athletic events, parent forums, Home and School Association meetings, and parent/teacher conference days. Further, anytime parents have a special concern they are encouraged to make an appointment with the principal or head of school.
Parent Volunteers
Parent volunteers are needed within each classroom to assist the Room Representatives for various activities. Parent volunteers have an opportunity to submit their names prior to the opening of school and Room Representatives contact the parent volunteers throughout the year whenever necessary.

Classroom Participation Individual teachers may invite parents to participate or assist in a special classroom activity and/or field trip. Sharing a unique skill or interest is often encouraged by the RHSM faculty. Please observe the following guidelines when volunteering at school: - Upon arrival on campus, all visitors must sign in at the receptionist's desk in the front lobby. This procedure allows the school to maintain an accurate account of all school visitors.
- Be aware that an early arrival to school may be necessary in order to discuss an activity with a teacher ahead of time.
- Please inform the appropriate person(s) in advance if you are unable to be at school at your scheduled time.
- Remember that confidentiality is expected when working with students. Additionally, it is important to display and maintain a positive attitude in the classroom.
| Parent Relations and Education - "Brown Bag Lunches" Special presentations are periodically arranged for parents throughout the year and the topics may range from curriculum to parenting advice. Speakers are usually professionals in the community and our parent body or from the administration or faculty, depending on subject. The events are during the lunch hour and are announced in advance. Parent Lending Library
A lending library is located in the library. It offers a variety of parenting books, articles and audio tapes as well as an early childhood reading series. An easy check out system is available for your convenience. Parents or guardians are welcome to use the resources at any time.

Parent Socials Parent socials are informal gatherings that take place in the fall at the home of a family in your child's grade. They are an opportunity for parents to become better acquainted with other parents in your child's grade. An invitation will be mailed from your room representative specifying the time and place for these fun evenings.
